Innocent man walks - MPs outraged
“Another terror suspect on a control order has absconded, Home Secretary John Reid has revealed in a written statement to MPs … Shadow home secretary David Davis … called for the absconder to be named … ‘Unless there are special circumstances, such as if it could prejudice another trial, this individual should now be named,’ said Mr Davis.”
Mr Davis doesn’t seem to realise that there are indeed special circumstances here - the man hasn’t been charged with, tried for or convicted of anything. To suggest that a man who is innocent (unless proven guilty) should be named as a potential terrorist would compound the human rights abuses he’s already suffering under the control order.
