Social finances

Wesabe has a unique take on social networking, allowing you to share your financial information and get tips on how to spend more effectively (i.e. less). While many people would understandably be reluctant to share this online – probably the biggest barrier to Wesabe growing as a network – it seems to provide an innovative service. Users can upload statements from bank accounts (I assume in CSV format) and tag their transactions. This triggers advice from other users which is tailored to your circumstances, showing you how far you are towards meeting predefined goals (e.g. “Don’t spend £50 on alcohol this week”). It’s a fascinating idea with great potential.

Wesabe is here. A 3 minute tour is here. Via Boomtrends, here.
