“The US House of Representatives has voted to overturn a ban on aid to overseas groups practising abortion … Earlier this week the White House said he [Bush] would veto any legislation weakening current federal policies on abortion … The ban, introduced in 1984, prohibits US contraceptive aid being sent to foreign family planning clinics and organisations which practice abortions.”

Bush’s veto will not reduce abortions - if people have less access to contraception they are more likely to become pregnant. Aside from the stupidity of Bush’s logic, what I find particularly disgusting is that Bush will willingly block increased access to contraception in countries rife with HIV/AIDS.
